Before I continue with my monthly favorites post, I must say something about the attack that happened on OSU’s campus this morning. Especially because this happened in my hometown. I, as well as many others, have loved ones attending OSU and live around where the attack happened. My heart and prayers go out to every single one of you. I’ve been trying to spread as much love as possible today. If you’re confused, I’ll link you to the news station so you’re caught up to speed.
Hey y’all. This weather is insane. It has been 70 degrees, then snowing, and now back to 60, I honestly can’t keep up. To be honest, I’m not that upset about it because I’m not sure I’m ready for winter, or specifically the wind. I hate the wind. It ruins my makeup and makes everything more cold than it needs to be. I realize I sound like a whiny child but I can’t help it. Anyways, here are the things that have gotten me through this weird and stressful month of November.
CoverGirl Ready Set Gorgeous Foundation– My skin has not been that great and I’m not entirely sure why. I’ve felt the need to have more coverage than my usual liquid highlighter+moisturizer combo. But I can’t let go of the glow completely, so I end up mixing these three items together. I mostly add more foundation and I’m pretty happy with the result. I mix it on my mixing palette and apply it with a beauty blender and it gives me the coverage I desire. Although, I still feel the need to go in with some concealer to spot conceal my blemish/problem areas afterwards.
A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas- Honestly this was a fantasy read I needed. A perfect escape from reality. So much so, that it’s been about week since I’ve finished it and I can’t get this story out of my head. This is the second book of the “A Court of Rose and Thorns” series and the third book isn’t coming out until 2017, I’m not sure how I’ll survive. But if you are looking for a new series to read and need some type of fantasy, I highly recommend this one.
- “I was not a pet, not a doll, not an animal.
I was a survivor, and I was strong.
I would not be weak, or helpless again
I would not, could not be broken. Tamed.”
- “And I realized—I realized how badly I’d been treated before, if my standards had become so low. If the freedom I’d been granted felt like a privilege and not an inherent right.”
Netflix Original Amanda Knox- I think it’s safe to say I’m a slut for a good documentary. Especially crime related and criminal justice oriented. I was thoroughly impressed with this one and I recommend it if you’re a fan of these kinds of things.
“If you want to give light to others you have to glow yourself.”
— Thomas S. Monson
“You have to act as if it were possible to radically transform the world. And you have to do it all the time.”
— Angela Davis
“It will be worth it. Whatever effort you are putting in right now, you will see results in the near future.”
“Stop telling yourself that the grass is greener on the other side, because it’s not. It is greener where you water it. So take control of your life and start watering your own pastures and grow your own greener grasses.”
I find it important to note that there will always be someone, somewhere out there who has it worse, BUT that does not invalidate your feelings in anyway. We are all different individuals who have different problems and we all feel things differently. We’re allowed to have our feelings even though there are others out there who do have it “worse”.
Thanks for reading y’all! I truly hope you make the most out of your December.
