Monthly Favorites

December Favorites

Hey y’all! I can’t believe this is my last post of 2016. Although, I’m more than happy for this year to be over. I mean if the sheer amount of memes don’t explain the way we all feel about 2016, I don’t know what will.

Annnnyways. On to my favorites post. I hope those made you laugh.

I became a lash girl this month y’all. I never thought I would make it to this point, but there were some black Friday deals that I couldn’t pass up and well, here I am. I have found that the GLUE makes all of the difference, so with that being said.

House of Lashes Lash adhesive– This is magical. I’ve used DUO lash glue, ardell lash glue and the other various drug store brands and all of their directions say the same thing, “wait about 30 seconds for glue to set.” But it still never works, I need to wait at least a minute for the glue to get tacky and I just don’t have time for that negativity in my life. HOL glue literally dries in at least 10 seconds and even sooner if you don’t put on a thick layer. I thought all of the beauty gurus were lying when they said you don’t have to wait for it to dry, but (for maybe the first time ever) they were right. This glue also lasts all day, which for me is about 9+ hours. My corners of lashes don’t pop up at all or if they do its really when I’m at home waiting to take my makeup off. If you don’t want to order from the HOL site you can also find this at some Sephora stores, its usually sold out, or online.

House of Lashes in Noir Fairy–  These were definitely my most worn pair this month. They seemed pretty dramatic for everyday use; but honestly they were perfect for days when I wanted to look like I put a lot of effort into my makeup. I’d use them when I wouldn’t wear eye shadow because they’re so dense they cover up the majority of my eyelid. I did have to trim these down quite a bit to get them to fit comfortably. But only trim lashes from the outer corner because the inner part is designed to tapper in to look more natural. I also struggled at first because I kept trying to apply these after mascara and that just doesn’t work well at all for me. My outer corner lashes curl too much and I would end up gluing my real lashes down, which is painful. The product description says these are reusable and long lasting but since I had to trim mine so much, I found that it sorta messed with their longevity. I mainly love these for their density and the way that they’re layered, they have a stacked effect and honestly I’ve yet to find a dupe for them. However, I’d still 100% recommend.

House of Lashes in Siren– So I really like these because I don’t have to trim them. They fit my eye shape perfectly. I also like these for the days where I actually take my time and do my eye shadow. They’re obviously not as full as my other pair, but I like that my eye shadow peeks out. These are also super light weight, like I can’t even feel them at all. The band is clear, as opposed to a thicker black band and that makes these so easy to work with. They don’t have a winged effect, they’re more suited for a halo eye. They also touch my eye brows which is a weird feeling haha.

Does my onesie count as my favorite fashion item?  It really got me through finals week, I’m not gonna lie. I got mine at Rue 21.

To Watch

Sweet/Vicious– So this came out in October but since my life has been nothing but school, I haven’t had the time to comment to a new series. I kinda discovered this by accident by browsing M.T.V’s on my parents TV and I binged watched all five episodes currently available. This show addresses sexual assault on a college campus and they are doing it in an effective way. I truly hope people are watching this show and learning what sexual assault actually is. It goes without mention that they also face common rape issues and what that looks like for survivors. As a survivor of sexual assault, I needed these heroes. I wish this show came out sooner so past Heidi could’ve healed a little earlier but I am so so so incredibly grateful to the producers of this show. 10/10 would recommend.

The Hunting Ground (on Netflix)- This documentary is amazing. I can’t even put into words how much I loved this. This tackles the problem with sexual assault on college campuses and how screwed up the entire system is. This entire film is so informative and really gave me a picture of what the school actually says about rape and sexual assault. I highly recommend this.

LightLoveandLace– This crystal shop was started by Youtuber Marissa Lace and I’ve been a long time fan of hers. She started this shop about a year ago as a way to provide crystals to those who don’t have crystal shops near them. I’ve ordered about six from her and I’ve loved every single one. The customer service is great and the crystals are beautiful. Before you order I would follow them on instagram to look for promo codes and discount codes.
